Message from Jennifer Watts, CEO of ISANS

Earlier this year, as we began the celebrations of our 40th anniversary with the theme “Pathways to Resilience,” little did we know how much our resilience as an organization and a community would be tested. We have adapted over the last several months to deliver our programs primarily online as we all do our best to socially distance and reduce the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

At this time of year, we would usually host our annual open house at our Mumford Road office. We love hosting this event with all of the wonderful conversations and food. As with many other plans, however, we have made adjustments, so this year we will be presenting a virtual edition of our open house through our social media channels. I hope that you will tune in over the next two weeks to help us recognize and celebrate the contributions of newcomers, community partners, and our staff team.

While many things have changed over the last year, one thing that has not is how grateful we are for the resiliency, wisdom, skills, and hope that newcomers bring to our communities. We are also very grateful for the welcoming spirit and wonderful partnerships throughout Nova Scotia that support newcomers in creating a home in our province.

Thank you for your continued support of ISANS’ mission this year. We hope that next December we will be able to meet again in person.

Best wishes,

Jennifer
