Swim to Survive!

As an extension of our Welcoming Communities to the Canada Games project, we decided to focus our attention on swimming. With funding from the Office of Immigration we were able to rent out the entire aquatic facility at the new Canada Games Centre. ISANS clients and volunteers had the opportunity to test the new facility for free, and gave us the opportunity to provide clients with Swim to Survive Certification. Swimming instructors from the Life Saving Society donated their time to teach clients the basics of learning how to survive in the deep waters. This certification was completed by 29 Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia clients and more than 70 other clients and volunteers were able to enjoy the leisure area of the new pool. A big thank you to our friend Ali who donated 10 pizzas for us to enjoy after swimming! Thank you to everyone who helped out in this event, and to all that participated.
