Job Search Workshops are customized to the needs of unemployed and underemployed newcomers.

Workshops take place on-site at ISANS and online in our online learning community.

Job Search Strategies Workshop

The Job Search Strategies Workshop offers the opportunity to learn and develop your job search tools and interview skills. These workshops are offered both on-site at ISANS and online.

In this workshop you learn about:

  • occupational requirements
  • methods of job search
  • resources for finding advertised jobs and potential employers
  • resumes and cover letters
  • marketing yourself
  • what to expect at an interview and what kinds of questions may be asked
  • other topics

You can develop your job search skills and practice answering possible interview questions, as well as learn about the Canadian workplace culture, employer expectations and your rights and responsibilities.

Participating in an effective job search and interview preparation process are essential steps on your road to employment.

Online Workshops

Working in Canada (Online – Self-directed Study)
This self-study workshop introduces you to Canadian work place culture, employer expectations, and your rights and responsibilities in the workplace.

Workplace Integration in Canada (Online – Self-directed Study)
This course gives you basic information about Canadian workplace culture that you may never get anywhere else. It explains the most common employer expectations, which are often unwritten and unspoken. All the advice and information comes from the real life experiences of newcomers to Canada.

These workshops are designed to help you build the skills and knowledge you need to find employment in Nova Scotia. They are fun, interactive and directly related to your learning needs as a new job seeker in Canada.
