Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has produced a video entitled Language Training for Canada. It is intended to raise newcomer awareness on the importance of official language skills for settlement in Canada. The video is aligned with the content in their settlement guide, Welcome to Canada, and is intended for immigrants who are still overseas, as well as those who have already arrived in Canada.
To help newcomers manage expectations around their language ability before they arrive, the video highlights the Canadian Language Benchmarks Online Self-Assessment tool. It also promotes language training options available to newcomers upon arrival, and encourages getting started on improving their skills as soon as possible.
