The Fireside Knitters meet every second Wednesday morning at the Keshen Goodman Library – they exchange knitting expertise and ideas. The knitters use donated needles and material to make useful items for various people and organizations. Knitters are both Canadian born and new immigrants to Canada. There are 12 Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia clients, most are Government Assisted Refugees, and about 10 Canadian born knitters. The group works on various projects together but they also work on their own items.
Current Projects
The Fireside Knitters recently received a donation of squares, which will be sewn together to make three quilts. They also have about 100 balls of dishcloth cotton, and will be knit into dishcloths and donated to Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia for new refugee arrivals!
