Seventh Annual ISANS Awards

We are pleased to announce the recipients of the seventh annual ISANS Awards, which were presented at ISANS Annual General Meeting on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Best Western Chocolate Lake Hotel.

The ISANS Awards recognize an individual, community group, business or employer who has demonstrated exceptional and innovative efforts in welcoming immigrants to Nova Scotia and in assisting them to successfully integrate into the community.

AGM 133Mary MacNab is the recipient of the ISANS Award 2016. Mary is celebrating her silver anniversary as a volunteer – she began volunteering at MISA (Metropolitan Immigrant Settlement Association) 25 years ago. For the last 15 years Mary has been a practice interviewer – she has assessed and helped hundreds of clients successfully manage job interviews. Clients, staff, and former clients who are now in post secondary faculty and senior government positions all benefited. We celebrate Mary and all that she has contributed to MISA, ISANS, HRM, Nova Scotia and society as a whole!

In addition to the ISANS award, two additional awards were presented to two organizations that made significant contributions to the welcoming of Syrian refugees this year. The ISANS Awards – Syrian Refugee Initiative 2016 goes to:

  • IPOANS – Investment Property Owners Association of Nova Scotia
  • Halifax Transitional Health Clinic for Refugees (Nova Scotia Health Authority)
